Let me introduce you to who the elect of God are: Isa 42:1 (KJ) “Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.” Please notice the following things here; 1) God is delighted in His elect, 2)He puts His Spirit upon them, 3) the elect will judge the Gentiles, and 4) Isa 54:4 says to His elect, “I have even called thee by thy name…” – He knows them by their name.
God is Delighted in His Elect
The word delighted signifies pleasure. God takes pleasure in His elect. Psalm 18:19 says, “He brought me forth also into a broad place; He rescued me, because He delighted in me.” If you read vs.20-34 you will see a clear picture of the elect of God.
God’s Spirit is Upon His Elect
Many today say that the elect are Israel. I have no objection to that statement. However, we must come to an agreement as to who Israel is! Rom 9:6-8 says, “For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. That is, they which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.”(KJ) So just because someone is a relative of Abraham’s he is not necessarily a part of God’s Israel. Paul teaches in Gal 3:7, “Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.”(KJ) Faith is the number one criterion for membership in Israel. That group of people called “children of faith” is Born Again Christians – the Spiritual Isaac. Paul makes that perfectly clear in Eph. 2:11-22 (CEV):
"Don't forget that you are Gentiles. In fact, you used to be called "uncircumcised" by those who take pride in being circumcised. At that time you did not know about Christ. You were foreigners to the people of Israel, and you had no part in the promises that God had made to them. You were living in this world without hope and without God, and you were far from God. But Christ offered his life's blood as a sacrifice and brought you near God. Christ has made peace between Jews and Gentiles, and he has united us by breaking down the wall of hatred that separated us. Christ gave his own body to destroy the Law of Moses with all its rules and commands. He even brought Jews and Gentiles together as though we were only one person, when he united us in peace. On the cross Christ did away with our hatred for each other. He also made peace between us and God by uniting Jews and Gentiles in one body. Christ came and preached peace to you Gentiles, who were far from God, and peace to us Jews, who were near God. And because of Christ, all of us can come to the Father by the same Spirit. You Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. You are citizens with everyone else who belongs to the family of God. You are like a building with the apostles and prophets as the foundation and with Christ as the most important stone. Christ is the one who holds the building together and makes it grow into a holy temple for the Lord. And you are part of that building Christ has built as a place for God's own Spirit to live."
His Spirit is upon them. You must realize, then, that the elect, the Israel mentioned in New Testament prophesies, is the Spiritual Israel described here – the Church of Jesus Christ. Peter says the elect are, “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.” 1Peter 1:2 (KJ)
His Elect Will Judge the Gentiles
The elect of God is the Israel of God is the Church of God are the Born Again Christians are Saints of God are judges of the world once Jesus returns: “Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord” 1Cor 1:2 (KJ) “Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?” 1Cor 6:2 (KJ)
He Knows His Elect by Their Name
God knows the elect by their name: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you [ransomed you by paying a price instead of leaving you captives]; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. 2When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you. 3For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior” Isa 43:1-3 (AMP).
